Akiko Hirai, The Waxing Moon Jar I ,Stoneware.
I visited the VASE exhibition , organised by DCCOI and curated by Brian Kennedy at Farmleigh in February and was blown away by the selection and beauty of the work on display. Here are a selection of images that I really liked, from Irish ceramicist Sara Flynn to a selection of Eastern potters. The floral arrangements by Dutch florist Lamber De Bie were as beautiful as the pots and both worked so well together. We were so lucky to get such a huge exhibition here with over 100 pieces in total from potters and artists from right around the world including Ireland, South Africa, Japan, Korea, and the UK.
Hitomi Hosono, A Petite Mangrove Bowl, Moulded, carved & hand-built porcelain with a yellow gold leaf interior.
Sara Flynn, Esker Vessels, Manganese Rich Glaze. Thrown and Altered, Slab-constructed and Assembled Porcelain, fired in a Reduced Atmosphere to 1260 Celsius.
Deok Ho Kim, Vestige I, White porcelain, wheel thrown, faceting, polishing, marbling.
Agalis Manessi, Selection, Red Terracotta, with tin glaze and painted oxides and stains.
