Ringsend I and II
Ringsend I and II are handthrown bud vases inspired by the iconic Poolbeg chimneys on Dublin's coastline. I display them on my mantel piece side by side. Perfect for anyone who knows and loves these landmarks. I throw the vase on my small potter's wheel and leave it to dry out slightly. When strong enough to handle, I trim the base and band the distinctive red llines onto the outside of the bowl with a thin brush. A week left to dry in a hot studio and then it goes into the kiln for the first firing, called the biscuit firing. Glazing comes next using a transparent glaze and then it's back into the kiln for it's final firing at a temperature of 1200 degrees celsius.
The result is a unique, handcrafted pair of vases with a timeless design, to enjoy and use in your home for many years.
