Handthrown stoneware porcelain vase. This playful repeating sky blue and redBird pattern is inspired by my favourite children's illustrations. It's simple shape can double as an elegant utensil holder. I throw the pot on my small potter's wheel and leave it to dry out slightly. When strong enough to handle, I trim the base and handpaint the graphic Bird pattern on the exterior. A week left to dry in a hot studio and then it goes into the kiln for the first firing, called the biscuit firing. Glazing comes next using a transparent glaze and then it's back into the kiln for it's final firing at a temperature of 1220 degrees celsius.
This vase comes in two sizes - Large (22 cms high x 9 cms diameter) and Regular (15 cms high x 9 cms diameter approx)
The result is a unique, handcrafted vase with a timeless design, to enjoy and use in your home for many years.
