Handthrown stoneware porcelain vase with Enchanted Forest motif, this design is inspired by my favourite children's illustrations.
I throw the pot on my small potter's wheel and leave it to dry out slightly. When strong enough to hold, I trim the base and handpaint the playful green and red Forest motif on the outside of the vase. A week left to dry in a hot studio and then it goes into the kiln for the first firing, called the biscuit firing. Glazing comes next using a transparent glaze and then it's back into the kiln for it's final firing at a temperature of 1200 degrees celsius.
The result is a unique, handcrafted vase with a timeless design, to enjoy and use in your home for many years.
