St Brigid's Cross by Sarah Jenkinson Baskets
While Spring doesn't officially start until March in Celtic times Imbolc or the 1st February marked the beginning of pagan Spring. The 1st February is also the feast day of St Brigid who is one of the patron saints of Ireland, known for her great piety and miracles. As children in school most kids were taught how to make a St Brigid's cross and it really brings me back in time.
These crosses are handmade from willow rods by Sarah Jenkinson in Galway specially for Brookwood Pottery, they come in various shades from nutty brown to green and the willow smells really lovely. Take heart the Spring is coming!!
