Brookwood X Alice Maria Power - Swallow Coffee Cup Celadon Porcelain
This is a collaboration between Brookwood Pottery and artist Alice Power. Alice is an illustrator and designer who currently works in graphic illustration. For this project Alice drew a beautiful swallow , harbinger of Summer and better times in ink and pen.
This design is made in 100% porcelain clay and glazed in a blue green Celadon glaze. Celadon is a European name for a Chinese glaze that emulated the colour of Jade, one of the most highly prized materials in ancient Chinese culture. I love its soft green hue that changes to blue under certain clays. The coffee mug is 11cms high by 13 cms wide and is perfect for a large coffee or latte.
The rim is finished neatly and the handle applied to give perfect balance for comfortable use. Each piece is signed by me.
