Tit Nest Box by Nestbox Ireland
One of my favorite birds is the Blue tit or Meantán Gorm in Irish. It's nesting time is April to May so now is perfect time to get a nestbox for this colourful visitor.
This beautifully made nesting box comes from Shane Pedlow from Dublin who created Nestbox Ireland as his TY project. What a project! Well done Shane!
The nest box is made to an approved design and has been finished with an environmentally friendly paint recommended by the RSPB.
Boxes for Tits should be hung 2-4 metres up a tree or wall. Unless there is overhanging foliage to shade the box, It should face north or east to avoid strong sunlight and the wettest winds.
Boxes can be put up at any time of the year but it is good to allow time for the birds to become accustomed before the nesting season in Spring.
After use, remove the lid by the stainless steel screw which will not rust. Clean box thoroughly and remount it as the Tits may want to roost in the box in Winter.
Measures approx 26cm tall x 14cm wide x 18cm deep.
