Jerpoint Glass and the Leadbetter family from Co Kilkenny have led the way in creating a tradition of hot glass making in Ireland.
The medium paperweight is created using molten glass that is dipped in the glass colour and shaped with special glass making tools before being dipped back into the molten glass furnace and permanently encased in an outer layer of glass. The hand-making process means that each piece is individually made and therefore unique.
