Tree Jug - Medium Slight Second
This jug is made of 600 grms of stonewareware clay and is approx 17 cms high. I throw the pot on my small potter's wheel and leave it to dry out slightly. When strong enough to handle, I trim the base and handpaint the colourful Tree motif on the exterior. A week left to dry in a hot studio and then it goes into the kiln for the first firing, called the biscuit firing. Glazing comes next using a transparent glaze and then it's back into the kiln for it's final firing at a temperature of 1200 degrees celsius.
Slight second as handle of jug is a different shade of clay to the body - I used the wrong clay but functionally perfect !! Not very noticable...
The result is a unique, handcrafted vase with a timeless design, to enjoy and use in your home for many years.
